Apogenix focuses on the development of protein-based therapeutics. All of its pipeline candidates have already demonstrated dose-dependent efficacy in studies conducted by renowned academic researchers in relevant animal models.The company pursues both blockbuster and orphan drug indications which are amenable for treatment by targeted modulation of apoptosis. Clearly defined clinical endpoints play an important role in the selection of indications. While blockbuster indications constitute large but also highly competitive markets, orphan drug indications imply exclusive marketing rights for a defined period of time, thereby enabling the company to quickly establish itself as a market leader in the respective field. It is an important part of Apogenix´ strategy to establish an intensive dialogue with relevant regulatory bodies already at an early stage of drug development.
Apogenix´ goal is to develop its drug candidates up to proof-of-concept in man. Thereafter, full or partial commercial rights to the respective drug candidates may be out-licensed to other pharmaceutical companies. Alternatively, Apogenix may opt to continue clinical development and commercialization of an orphan compound on its own.
